Nikita Singh is the bestselling author of thirteen books, including The Reason Is You, Every Time It Rains and The Promise. She has also edited three collections of short stories, written two books under a pen name and four short stories for audio format.
Born and raised in India, Nikita got her MFA in Creative Writing at The New School in New York. She has worked with two major publishers, publishing seven books with Penguin Random House and five with HarperCollins Publishers.
Nikita’s most recent book, a collection of stories called What Do You See When You Look In The Mirror? released in August 2021. She lives with her husband in Brooklyn, New York.
Accolades
In 2013, Nikita received the Live India Young Achievers Award. For their 20th anniversary issue in October 2016, Cosmopolitan magazine featured Nikita in their 20 remarkable women in their 20s list. In 2018, she acted as a mentor in the second season of Times of India’s “Write India” contest. In 2020, she won a “30 under 30” nomination by Hindustan Times.

Nikita has delivered talks at numerous TEDx events as well as lectures at the best universities across India, including IIMs, IITs and model United Nation conferences. She has also participated in panel discussions in literary festivals held by Times of India and Penguin’s Annual Spring Fest.
